The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) is offering an exciting opportunity to work with them this summer on their various conservation efforts.
Atlantic Region NCC Vice President, Kelly Cain says they typically try and find young candidates who have a demonstrated passion for the environment.
“We offer an exciting opportunity for students studying conservation where they can actually get out in the field and see what we do day-to-day,” Cain says.
“Today’s interns are aspiring biologists, foresters, and scientists, so by investing in them, we are helping contribute to Canada’s conservation leaders of tomorrow. We are proud to work in local communities and equip our youth with the skills, training, and work experience they need to advance in their career paths,” said Cain
As part of the internship, interns will be sent into the field to record data, collect samples and provide stewardship of the NCC properties.
Cain says the job is not lab-based and interns will be outside every day as part of the program, “It’s important that people understand what the job entails, you’ll be out in the field getting hands-on so candidates need to have a passion for that type of work.”
The NCC is still in the process of financing this year’s internship which they say will cost $166,000. The NCC is asking individuals who are interested in assisting them to call 1-877-231-4400. Any funds raised from the public will then be matched by the NCC.
