New phone scam targets NS Power customers

There’s a new phone scam making the rounds.

RCMP say they’ve had reports of a scammer pretending to be a Nova Scotia Power employee.

The caller will try and trick you into thinking you didn’t pay for a smart meter installation.

The scammer then threatens to cut off your power, and says a technician is on the way.

Police say the caller is trying to get personal information like bank or credit card details.

RCMP recommend you contact your service provider directly if you have questions about an account.
