Liverpool’s state-of-the-art track and field facility is open.
Located at the Liverpool Regional High School, it’s got the region’s only turf soccer field and rubberized track.
It also has full lighting, with a long and triple jump runway and landing pit, and a new shot-put area.
The $3.5 million project was possible through the Queens County Track Society, with the federal, provincial and municipal governments contributing.
The society says it will extend the training season for athletes.
Premier Tim Houston says young athletes can chase their dreams closer to home, and become more active and connected through sport.
Construction began in July, 2024, planning started seven years ago.
