New US tariffs on Canadian softwood lumber

Another hit to Canada’s lumber industry.

The US is raising tariffs again.

Exports of softwood lumber are being hit with a 34.35 percent tariff.

Unifor says that more than double the combined duties on Canadian softwood.

The union is calling for a large-scale Team Canada approach to support the forestry sector.

It suggests Canada use its lumber resources to help with a national affordable home building strategy.

Unifor says it represents more than 22 thousand forestry workers in 10 provinces.
