Don’t expect the big break at the pumps like we’ve seen the last couple of weeks.
Dan McTeague, senior petroleum analyst with Gasbuddy.com says the province’s regulator will likely keep prices at their current level.
“I think the utilities board (Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board) jumped the gun by dropping gasoline three-and-a-half cents a litre after dropping it 6 cents, of course it’s been a bit of a boon for consumers.
He says if prices do fall again, the NSURB could feel some blow back.
“It may prompt some suppliers to rethink selling gasoline in Nova Scotia because the price in which their selling, their average benchmark, is well below the so-called benchmark for gasoline on the markets.”
McTeague says that benchmark is about 3 and a half cents.
