No Summer Day Camps For Bridgewater

For kids who look forward to attending summer camps over the summer-this year will be different.

The Town of Bridgewater announced May 27 that summer camps would not be held this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

It is understandable that kids will be disappointed but overall the community has been supportive of the decision, said Diana Johnson, Recreation Coordinator for the town.

“People are understanding, people get that we are living in a world full of all these restrictions and it’s a serious matter, and our health is of the utmost importance,” she said.

Johnson said it all came down to whether or not they could provide quality camps with the restrictions currently in place, and whether they would even have a facility open for use.

“There were just so many unknowns.”

The summer will not be completely devoid of fun though-staff are currently working on outdoor activities, at-home activities and virtual experiences everyone can enjoy.
