Christmas has come early for select participants in Hockey Nova Scotia programs.
Pittsburgh Penguins centre and Nova Scotia native Sidney Crosby has donated new hockey equipment to eight participants of local hockey programs for communities who are under represented in the game.
In a release, Crosby said he wanted to help kids get access to the game, saying, “I wanted to be sure they had the best experience learning the game, and Having the right equipment is the first step to getting started.”
Crosby also promised to donate 87 new sets of equipment in the new year to three Hockey NS programs who work with under-represented communities in hockey.
Those programs are the Hockey Nova Scotia Black Youth Ice Hockey Program, the Hockey Nova Scotia Indigenous Female Hockey Academy, and the Hockey Nova Scotia–ISANS New Canadians Hockey Program.
