Nova Scotians will hear from the premier and top doctor on Wednesday.

Premier Tim Houston and Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Robert Strang will deliver a COVID-19 update at 3 p.m.

We could hear news regarding the loosening of COVID-19 restrictions.

Nova Scotia reported 91 people were in a designated COVID-19 hospital unit on Tuesday, including 14 in the ICU.

Meantime, Prince Edward Island announced a three-step plan on Tuesday to lift most COVID-19 restrictions.

Step 1 is expected to begin next Thursday with a loosening of some existing public health restrictions. Step 3 is slated for April 7th, when it’s anticipated mandatory masks, gathering limits, and the province’s vax program will come to an end.

Newfoundland and Labrador has also announced a plan to loosen restrictions on gatherings and sporting events starting on Monday.

Formal gatherings will be able to increase to 50 per cent of a venue’s capacity. Restaurants, bars, and theatres can operate at 50 per cent capacity with physical distancing in place along with gyms and fitness facilities.
