Wayne Robert Sangster – passed away peacefully early Monday, February 16th, 2026 in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Wayne was born October 5th, 1943 in Halifax to Stewart and Roberta (Fraser) Sangster.
He grew up in Berwick and Kentville, graduating from Kings County Academy in Kentville. He attended Acadia University and graduated with Bachelor Degrees in Science, Education, and Phys. Ed & Recreation. He taught briefly at Bridgewater Jr. High School and Dwight Ross Jr. High School in Greenwood, before moving on to Nova Scotia Community College Lunenburg Campus in Bridgewater.
Wayne enjoyed participating in sports, especially baseball, basketball, golf, hunting and fishing. He also volunteered countless hours, coaching baseball for several years in the Bridgewater Minor Baseball Association for several years. He also coached men’s and women’s basketball for many years at the Nova Scotia Community College, winning several provincial championships.
After retiring, Wayne enjoyed the winter months in South Carolina, playing golf with many Nova Scotian friends, as well as friends from the Carolinas. He was a past member of Ken-Wo Golf Club, Bridgewater Golf and Country Club, and Osprey Ridge Golf Club. He was also a past member and past president of the Bridgewater and District Gyro.
Besides his parents, Wayne is predeceased by his stepmother, Phyllis (Schofield) Sangster.
He is survived by his sons, Michael Sangster in Bridgewater; Stephen (Patricia) Sangster in Fall River; his grandsons, Lucas and Logan in Bridgewater; his granddaughter Aether in Fall River; his sister, Donna (Guy) Morneau in Fredericton; his nephew, Richard (Lisa) Morneau in Oromocto; as well as other extended family members and numerous friends
Wayne has requested that there be no visitation or funeral. Donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or the charity of your choice.
