PAL flight lands safe in Halifax after issue

A Provincial Airlines (PAL) flight landed safely in Halifax, Sunday afternoon, after alerting airport staff, it needed help landing.

In an emailed statement to our newsroom, Tiffany Chase with the Halifax Airport Authority says it was around 5:45 p.m. when flight 2571, coming in from Gander, Newfoundland and Labrador, declared a “pan-pan mechanical issue”.

“Our team stationed to respond if needed, however the aircraft landed without incident around 6:13 p.m.,” says Chase.

This incident came after another PAL flight, only several hours earlier, turned back to the Halifax airport a few minutes after takeoff to address an issue.

Chase says, it was around 12:30 p.m., when flight 2592 alerted emergency personnel they would be returning, but no emergency was declared.

“No assistance from our team was required. The aircraft landed without incident,” says Chase.

We have reached out to PAL airlines for more information.
