Paramedics and Police Officer Assaulted in Bridgewater DUI Arrest

During an impaired driving arrest in Bridgewater on Tuesday, December 13 two paramedics and a police officer were assaulted.

In a release, the Bridgewater Police Service (BPS) says they were called to a crash scene on Aberdeen Road around 8:00 p.m., where a driver had crashed into a utility pole.

Upon arrival the driver was still behind the wheel and required assistance getting out, BPS also noted he immediately showed signs of impairment.

Some point following that the driver who has been identified as 28-year-old Tyler Chambers of Oakhill assaulted the paramedics attending to him and a police officer.

BPS Deputy Chief Danny MacPhee says none of the first responders who were assaulted sustained any serious injuries.

The utility pole which was damaged caused some localized power outages and as of Wendesday morning Nova Scotia Power crews were still on the scene working to repair the damage.
