Pellet gun and knife used in Camperdown assault

Lunenburg District RCMP have charged an 18-year-old Camperdown man in relation to an assult that involved a pellet gun and a knife.

The accused, who was not named by police faces charges for; Assault with a Weapon (2 counts), Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose and Uttering Threats.

RCMP say they responded to a call in Camperdown on Sarty Road around 7:00 p.m. on May 15.

Upon arrival at the scene, RCMP officers learned that the victim, a 19-year-old Bridgewater man, had been sitting on a couch at home when the suspect pointed a pellet gun at him and threatened to shoot him.

A physical confrontation ensued where the victim was struck numerous times by the barrel of the gun, a knife was also produced by the suspect, who began slashing at the victim. The victim fled the home and hid in a truck where he called 911. The suspect then ran outside and began striking the truck with the gun and the knife while threatening the victim. The suspect then returned inside the home.

Police then located the suspect and kept him in custody in Bridgewater for the night.

He has since been released and is due to appear in Bridgewater Provincial Court on August 3.
