Pierre Poilievre is in southwestern Nova Scotia.
The federal Conservative Party leader spoke to over 200 supporters at the Rodd Grand Hotel in Yarmouth Tuesday night.
Earlier in the day, he toured a seafood plant in Lockeport, Shelburne County.
The Opposition leader’s visit comes two months after Acadie-Annapolis MP Chris d’Entremont crossed the floor to the Liberals.
Poilievre says people in the riding are furious that they’re forced to ‘pay the price’ for d’Entremont’s decision.
“And now he’s propping up the Liberal government’s high costs on his own constituents. People here once again want to have a voice for them, for their affordability, for their safety and future, and that’s what Conservatives will offer,” said Poilievre in an interview with Acadia News.
D’Entremont crossed the floor in November, and said negativity within the Conservative Party and Poilievre’s leadership style played a factor in his decision.
The now Liberal MP said he heard from many on doorsteps who said they could vote for him, but not for Poilievre.
Poilievre says there are a lot of people who would run for the Conservatives, and fight for affordability for all Nova Scotians and Canadians.

Poilievre wants to put an end to illegal fishing
At the meet and greet in Yarmouth, Poilievre talked about affordability, taxes and stopping illegal fishing.
Poilievre says the fishery is vital to the country.
“What I’m hearing is that we need to reduce the governmental red-tape, bring down energy costs and taxes, so that we can produce more delicious, nutritious seafood for Canadians, and for the world.”
He says people want to see the law enforced.
“So that law-abiding, honest folks who make a living from the sea can continue to do so. The illegal fishery is undermining the entire sector.”
He was joined by Fisheries critic and Newfoundland MP Clifford Small, and former South Shore/St. Margarets MP Rick Perkins, who introduced Poilievre on stage.
