Port Medway Firefighter Killed in Colision

The Port Medway Fire Department (PMFD) has announced that one of their members was the person killed in a fatal collision on Port Medway Road on Wednesday.

In a post on Facebook the PMFD explained that the emergency scene they attended on Wednesday was every firefighter’s worst nightmare, responding to call of a person close to them.

RCMP and other emergency responders were first notified of a single-vehicle collision on Port Medway Road at 6:55 p.m.

Upon arriving to the scene it was determined that a truck had lost control at some point before leaving the road and coming to rest on a tree.

Medical examiners pronounced the driver, who was the sole occupant dead at the scene.

Collision reconstructionists attended the scene shortly after to get an idea of what occurred and their investigation is still ongoing. Port Medway Road was closed for several hours as a result but has since reopened.

The PMFD announced they have canceled Bingo this week as their members mourn their loss.
