Province funds more medical school seats in N.S.

The province wants to train more doctors.

Five more first-year seats will be created at Dalhousie University in Halifax, with five more to come in 2026/27.

There are now 99 seats at Dal, with 30 more at Cape Breton University, 114 of the seats are reserved for Nova Scotians.

Health minister Michelle Thompson says adding more medical school seats is an important part of boosting the number of doctors available to work in Nova Scotia.

The 10 additional seats will cost the province over $2 million.
