More funding for children with disabilities.
The province announced more than 650 families will get more money through the 3.5-million dollar investment.
Community Services Minister Karla MacFarlane says it will help the children with access to programming.
“We heard from one lady that she’ll be able to sign her child up for swimming lessons. It ensures they get to do social activities that anyone can do in our community,” said MacFarlane.
The new funding will increase the total by up to 200 dollars per month, along with a new inclusion benefit of over 100 dollars for activities.
Summer respite funds are also going up to two thousand dollars for some families.
MacFarlane says she consulted with families.
“These families, their needs are different while carrying for one or multiple children with disabilities. We are pleased to provide this support.”
