Province releases regulations for NS Power to address complaints

The province is making Nova Scotia Power address service complaints from certain large industrial customers.

They’ve released the Performance Standards Regulations for Nova Scotia Power.

It applies to large industrial customers that get their power directly from transmission lines.

The new regulations will require NS Power to resolve issues within 18 months or face a fine up to $25,000.

Minister of Natural Resources and Renewables Tory Rushton says large industrial customers have lost millions over the years due to power interruptions.

He adds it makes NS Power accountable to meet those customers’ needs within a reasonable time frame.
