Province to put on campaign schools ahead of municipal elections

The Province of Nova Scotia will once again be putting on courses that teach the ins and outs of putting on a municipal campaign.

Municipal elections are set to take place across the province this fall, and the courses aim to encourage more people to consider running.

The three sites selected to host this year’s campaign schools were chosen in an effort to make them accessible to rural communities, where there is a shortage of people with municipal backrounds.

The three sessions this year will take place in:

  • Sydney, June 15, Eltuek Arts Centre.
  • Truro, June 22, Rath Eastlink Community Centre (online attendance available).
  • Shelburne, July 13, Shelburne Community Centre.

To make the courses accessible to everyone, the session taking place in Truro will allow participants to attend virtually. The province will also cover the costs of childcare for anyone with children who attends.

If you are interested in attending one of the courses registration information can be found through the campaign school website.
