Province to release student ‘Code of Conduct’ in March

When can we expect a provincial plan on violence in schools?

The province has been working a new ‘Code of Conduct’ for students.

New education minister Brendan Maguire gave an update Thursday.

“That’s due in March. I expect that to be out and available to staff, teachers, students, the public and the media then,” said Maguire.

Maguire says one incident of violence is too many.

He says he wants to work with students, staff and teachers to give everyone the proper resources to address the issue.

“My job as minister is to ensure that staff and students have a safe environment.”

An auditor general report last summer said that staff were not able to handle the rising cases of violent incidents in schools.
