Pumpkin Planting At Ross Farm Museum Taking Place Virtually This Year

Ross Farm Museum is not fully open to the public and many of its traditional events had to be postponed, but one very special event will continue.

Every year families come to the farm to plant pumpkins, which grow throughout the summer and fall until harvest time in September.

Ross Farm Museum’s Marketing and Communications Officer Matthew Gates said this year it took on a special importance because the museum is celebrating its 50th anniversary.

“It has been a tradition for many families and they have never missed a year, so we did an online registration a few weeks ago and it filled up extremely fast. We planted 550 pumpkins this year, we have had up to 800 but we limited it this year to keep things manageable,” he said.

Gates says they still don’t know what the harvest will look like in the fall but they plan to hold as traditional a harvest as possible.

You can visit the Ross Farm Museum Facebook page here to see what will happen come harvest time.
