A listener wrote us with this dilemma:
My 25 year old daughter is extremely lonely and doesn’t have a boyfriend. She goes on an occasional first date but it never turns into anything.
I think it’s because she dresses like an old spinster and rarely gets her hair done. First impressions mean a lot these days and she really doesn’t give off a stylish vibe. I’ve bought her outfits and tried to get her to take more pride in her appearance but she tells me I’m rude and judgmental. She claims she likes to look “real” and there’s nothing wrong with the way she dresses or her appearance. She’s a very beautiful girl when she wants to be but just refuses to clean up her look for that good first impression. What more can I do?
