Queens Council changes evening meeting times.

The Region of Queens Municipality is changing the start time for its evening council meetings to make them more consistent and accessible.

Beginning October 28, the public portion of the regular council meetings held on the fourth Tuesday of each month will start at 5:30 p.m. Closed session discussions, when needed, will take place beforehand from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The change, approved by council on October 14, aims to streamline the meeting process and make scheduling easier for council, staff, and residents. The earlier start time allows confidential business to be handled before the public session begins, helping prevent meetings from running late into the evening.

In a statement, municipal staff said the new schedule “provides clear and predictable times for Council and the public” and “aligns with Council’s commitment to transparent and efficient governance.”

As before, council meetings remain open to the public and include a time early in the agenda for public input.

Meetings are also streamed live on the Region of Queens’ Facebook and YouTube pages, where recordings are permanently available for viewing.
