Queens County approves development agreement for wind farm

Queens County residents are closer to accessing green energy as councillors approved a development agreement for a wind farm in Milton.

Roswall Development Inc. plans to erect 33 turbines near the Mersey River, selling electricity directly to consumers under Renewall Energy.

The project promises lower rates than Nova Scotia Power, with potential employment for up to 12 people full-time.

The agreement, subject to appeal until April 4, marks a milestone under the province’s Renewable to Retail program, aiming to start construction by summer pending a lease agreement for Crown land.
