Queens: Partnership Could Display Historical Exhibits Outside Of Museum

History will be on display if an agreement is approved between the Region of Queens and Queens County Museum.

Two projects have been identified.

One is a rotating sports exhibit at Queens Place Emera Centre while the other is a showcase exhibition at the Town Hall Arts and Cultural Centre.

Mayor Christopher Clarke says he likes the idea.

“It makes more sense to be working with the Museum on projects like that. Obviously it’s gonig to have a lot of spin-off benefits and it’s a better way to go.”

The first exhibit at town hall is proposed to be a Bowater collection next May to mark the fifth anniversary of the mill closing.

There is a cost of $2,500 to build a display at Queens Place and $5,000 annually for curation and organization.

However, sponsorships could be sought to offset those costs.
