Queens revokes development permit for Eagle Head development

The Region of Queens council has revoked the development permit for the house construction near Eagle Head Beach which is being undertaken by former Halifax Mayor Peter Kelly.

Since work first began a few weeks ago residents have been raising concerns, claiming the build will destroy a right of way used to access the beach for years and inflict irreparable damage to the beach.

On Tuesday night, Councilor Vicki Amirault, who represents the area of Eagle Head posted to Facebook explaining that council had revoked the development permit based on advice from their legal counsel, however as it is now a legal matter she could not comment further.

Work on the site has now halted and will be unable to resume unless the development permit is reinstated.
