Queens to foot bill for sewer link for 15 unit development

The Region of Queens has agreed to cover the costs needed to link a soon-to-be-complete property development to their main sewer system.

The developers of The Falls which will be a 15-unit complex geared towards seniors were instructed to run their pipes to the edge of their property located at 312 Highway 8.

That is standard procedure for all buildings, with the property owners being responsible for the costs.

The Falls did that based on guidance from the Region of Queens, however, it was discovered later on that the sewer hookup was on the other side of Highway 8 and more pipe would be needed to link it into the system.

At their most recent council meeting, councillors voted in favour of spending an estimated $27,500 to run pipe along the edge of 312 Highway 8 where it will link up with a manhole connection further down.

The Falls is expected to open this fall.
