The human remains found in October in Springfield, Nova Scotia have been identified by the RCMP as Barry Albert (Mosher), who was reported missing on August 28, 2022.
The RCMP first discovered the remains at a property on Hastings Road in Springfield on October 8, however, the remains were not identified until November 18.
Normally identifying a body only takes a few days but Cpl. Chris Marshall with the RCMP explained why in this case it took over a month, “Typically when we are alerted to a homicide we know where the body is within hours, however in this case it was six weeks from when he was initially reported missing so more there were more steps to the process, hence the delay,”.
Marshall could not provide further details on the state of the remains when they found them as the investigation is still ongoing.
The RCMP are now conducting a homicide investigation with resources from the Bridgewater Police Service, the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner’s Office, the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team, RCMP Forensic Identification Services and Lunenburg District RCMP.
