RCMP investigating fatal collision in Harriston

A single-vehicle crash that took place Wednesday morning near Harriston claimed the lives of two elderly Bridgewater residents according to Lunenburg District RCMP.

RCMP were called to the collision around 11:30 a.m., where they discovered a Ford Escape has lost control while navigating Highway 12 and crashed into the ditch, where the vehicle came to rest.

EHS also attended the scene, the driver an 80-year-old man from Bridgewater, and the passenger a 76-year-old woman also from Bridgewater were declared dead at the scene.

A section of Highway 12 was closed for multiple hours as a collision reconstructionist analyzed the site. It has since reopened but the investigation is still ongoing.
