RCMP Release New Stats On COVID-19 Enforcement

RCMP have released the statistics on COVID-19 related enforcement for the May 1-5 period, related to the State of Emergency that was declared in the province Mar 22.

9 people have been charged for offences under the Nova Scotia Health Protection and Emergency Management Acts. To date, a total of 199 people have been charged under the acts.

This past weekend some of the restrictions were eased and people are now allowed in provincial and municipal parks and on trails (but not beaches and playground equipment), cottage use is allowed but limited to one family and only direct travel there and back, sport fishing is now open but no fishing derbies, golf driving ranges are open but not courses.

Groups larger than five persons are still not permitted and social distancing must still be followed. Social distancing rules still remain, including not gathering in groups larger than five people. In Bridgewater the first weekend of relaxed rules went well with most people abiding by the rules.

RCMP ask people to continue to do their part to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
