Police are partnering with Department of Lands and Forestry today to continue the search efforts from the air by helicopter.
The ground search has been delayed due to weather conditions following last night’s storm. The conditions will be re-assessed tomorrow.
The ground search zone spans a 55 km stretch of shoreline from Delaps Cove to Margaretsville.
On Wednesday the search officially changed from a rescue mission to a recovery operation.
The body of one of the missing fishermen was recovered Tuesday. He has been identified as Mike Drake from Fortune, Newfoundland.
Those that remain missing are Leonard Gabriel, Dan Forbes, Eugene ‘Geno’ Francis, Aaron Cogswell, and Captain Charles Roberts.
Support for the families of the fishermen has been pouring in, including recruiting a grief recovery specialist and a fundraiser by Full Bay Scallop Association.
Over $60,000 has already been raised by member companies.
