The challenge is on for people interested in rowing a dory for a good cause.
The second annual Dory Challenge, hosted by Saltbox Brewing Company, will be held in Bridgewater and Mahone Bay August 4.
The two person team event costs $100 with registration available until race day.
Andrew Tanner with Saltbox Brewing Company says they are building off last year’s success.
“Fifty percent of the proceeds will go towards the Canadian Dory Racing Association and the winners get to choose where the other 50% gets donated. Last year it went to the IWK.”
Dories will be provided by the Canadian Dory Racing Association, or people can bring their own.
“The dories are quite a challenge to row and to keep going in the direction you want them to,” says Tanner.
“It’s more for fun than anything.”
Mahone Bay will host the first challenge from 10 a.m until noon on August 4 followed by races in the LaHave River from 2 p.m until 4 p.m.
