Sarah Mitton claims gold in shot put at Commonwealth Games

Brooklyn’s Sarah Mitton will be returning home with a gold medal from the Birmingham Commonwealth Games.

Mitton won the gold in dramatic fashion, with her gold medal-winning throw of 19.03 meters coming on her final attempt.

She could be heard audibly screaming on the television broadcast as she released her final throw indicating she knew it was a good one as soon as it left her hand.
