Sarah Mitton earns back-to-back podium finishes on Diamond League circuit

Canada’s Sarah Mitton placed third in the women’s shot put at the Diamond League meet in Monaco, continuing a strong run of results on the international stage.

Mitton, who is from Brooklyn, Nova Scotia, recorded a top throw of 20 metres. She finished behind Jessica Schilder of the Netherlands, who won the competition with a 20.39-metre throw, and American Chase Jackson, who took second at 20.06 metres.

All three athletes were part of last week’s Diamond League event in Oregon, where Jackson placed first, Mitton was second, and Schilder finished fifth.

The 29-year-old Canadian has had a standout season, including wins at both of the last two world indoor championships and a silver at the 2023 world outdoor championships.
