School Lunches

So yesterday a report was released about school lunches in Nova Scotia. According to the auditor general, most Nova Scotia school boards and schools don’t offer an adequate selection of health and nutritious foods on their menu. The report did mention that the South Shore Regional Centre for education are doing things right though! Read the full story on the study HERE

I personally think school lunch menu are a lot healthier then they were even when I was a kid. In the early 2000s it was common for schools to serve burgers, pizza, taco bake and chocolate chip cookies on most days! Now, judging by my sister’s menu she brings home. They have soup and sandwiches on a daily basis as well as salad and the odd pizza day!

Do you think your kids lunch menu is unhealthy? What types of things did they serve you in school? What did you bring for lunch?
