School Ready To Raise Money With Mardi Gras

Parents, staff and students at Bluenose Academy are gearing up for their major fundraiser.

After being called off last year due to the labour dispute between the province and teachers, the school’s Mardi-Gras is back this year with a brand new organizing committee.

One of the organizers, Tarah Millen says she’s thankful to the community and the school for getting behind them.

“Pretty much every single teacher has been involved. Either organizing if they couldn’t be there on that day. They’re going to be running booths and they’ve all been extremely supportive and part of this from the very beginning.”

Millen says this event only happens because so many people care.

“From the school, the teachers, the principal, all the parents. We’ve had excellent donations and sponsorships by the community. It’s been amazing actually to see all the different businesses come together.”

Millen says there are games, inflatables, a cake walk, silent auction, concessions and lots of fun events for the whole family.

The Mardi Gras goes Saturday from 11:00am until 2:00pm at Bluenose Academy in Lunenburg.
