I’m a big fan of the true crime genre of movies – anything to do with serial killers, drug lords, the Mafia, or corporations behaving badly, as long as it’s dramatized.
These kinds of films give big name actors the chance to really show their stuff during the dramatic moments.
But my wife Karen likes to unwind in the evenings by watching true crime documentaries. She takes it to a whole new level. I call it “murder porn”.
The shocking thing is I don’t think she’s alone in her interests. The sheer number of documentaries featuring true crime on Netflix and the other streaming services is astounding.
But the most disturbing thing is that she likes to listen on her headphones to serial killer investigations as she’s falling asleep. I’d be too amped up to fall asleep listening to the crimes of the most disturbed members of our society. But I hear it’s a popular thing with a lot of women these days.
Or is she planning something? Should I be concerned?
