Shelburne County Arena Re-Opens

The Shelburne County Arena is back open.

It had to close in August due to problems with the ice chiller.

It cost about 150 thousand dollars to get things up and running last Friday.

The money came from the Town and Municipality of Shelbure, along with private donors.

Mayor Harold Locke says the rink is important to the community.

“It covers Eastern Shelburne County, and it’s used very often. We are so glad that it’s back up and operating. It was a huge hole when we didn’t have it.” says Mayor Locke.

The rink opened in the mid-70s and has had several upgrades, including the board, glass and Zamboni.

Locke says the next project in a few years will be a roof replacement.
