The mayor of the Town of Shelburne says they are not a financial risk to amalgamate with the municipality.
Karen Mattatall says they have infrastructure that needs support.
A financial analysis suggests more than $9-million is needed over the next five to eight years.
However, she says it holds little merit.
“The thing that is concerning is the implication that our infrastructure is so deteriorated that we have to come and fix it all immediately. That isn’t the case.”
Mattatall encourages people to look at their books if they have any concerns.
The two sides have been looking into proposed amalgamation for about a year.
She says the town has no next steps, saying they can’t force the municipality to amalgamate if they’re not interested.
