Do you own something that you’ve had for years? Maybe a certain vehicle, but more likely a favourite jacket or winter coat that just keeps going? Perhaps you had to replace the zipper in it?
I have a few hoodies and sweat pants that have lasted through hundreds if not thousands of washings. And footwear – maybe a pair of snowmobile boots or a favourite pair of shoes?
Or a couch or other piece of furniture?
The oldest things I own are a set of hand tools that my late father bought when he was in his twenties. Files and chisels and measuring tapes that must be seventy years old, at least. I don’t treat them as collectibles or antiques – I still use them from time to time if I’m working on a project.
My wife Karen has a large ceramic mixing bowl that had been her mom’s for many, many years and she still uses it weekly.
