South Shore Centre Struck by Motorist

Emergency responders were called to the South Shore Centre around 11:20 a.m. Monday morning after receiving reports that a motorist had crashed into the mall.

According to first responders at the scene, the driver had a medical incident that caused them to lose control of the vehicle while navigating the parking lot, eventually leading to the vehicle slowly crashing into a section of the mall near the Shoppers entrance.

The driver was transported by ambulance, though no info on their status has been provided.

The mall sustained minor damage to its brick facade and garden and the vehicle which struck it had to be towed away.

The scene has since been released and the section of the parking lot which was temporarily closed has been reopened.
