The Municipal governments of Chester, Lunenburg, and Queens are trying to learn more about how to make the South Shore more appealing to existing and new businesses.
To that end, the three municipalities will undertake a survey that they will use to guide policies and practices that impact local businesses for years to come.
“The vibrancy and prosperity of our region is strongly connected to the success of our existing businesses,” says MODL Mayor Carolyn Bolivar-Getson. “They provide the employment and services we need to ensure the Municipality remains a place where people can live, work, and play. In recognition of how important our businesses are, the Municipality is taking positive action to identify and meet the needs of the businesses in our community.”
The three municipalities have retained consulting firm Deloitte LLP to assist with the project and to conduct The Business Retention and Expansion (BR+E) Survey.
Deloitte will be working with municipal staff to review the completed surveys to get an understanding of the local business climate with the intention of developing economic development activities aligning with the local business priorities. Selection for survey participation is random, and businesses who receive a call are encouraged to participate in the telephone survey. The survey is open from September 12 to October 14.
