Spring Forward

It’s that time again. That time of year when we borrow an hour’s sleep to be repaid next fall.

I don’t mind the time change. It doesn’t really bother me that much. There have been a couple over the years that seem to catch me a bit and make me feel a bit jet lagged, even though I have somehow skipped the travelling part. It seems a bit unfair, but I like the extra daylight in the evening, so I don’t complain.

There are people who hate the time change. It really seems to throw off their internal clock. Others will try to say it bothers the animals. I don’t believe that. They are just creatures of habit. My dog try to tell me it’s supper time from about 2:00 PM on. She knows it’s not, but it might work. Maybe if she can talk me into feeding her early I’ll forget and feed her a second time later. For her, it’s all about the food. Time is not relevant.

There are those who think we should give up the time change and just stay on standard time. I’d rather have the extra light at the end of the day, so I lean toward daylight savings if we have to stick with just one. But that’s just me.

Every year it seems to be a similar thing. People complain about the time change. Politicians say they are going to do something about it. Then they get distracted by some other shiny object and it goes away for six months.

If the time change bothers you, I wish you all the best this weekend. My plan is just to stay in bed Sunday morning and hope my body doesn’t notice.

The real tough part is some of the clocks. There are some it will take me six months to figure out how to reset. Just in time to roll them back again.
