My wife Karen was getting frustrated the last two weeks trying to find a turkey for Christmas dinner. Me? I’m not that fussed since we have turkey all year, usually once every two months.
Plus I had one of those turkeys in a box (which aren’t that bad in case you were wondering – it makes the best turkey sandwiches)
Then I was listening to a fellow from Texas who said his family Christmas dinner tradition is steak with Bloody Marys. He explained that many years ago they couldn’t get a turkey and decided to do steak, since they’re from Texas and surrounded by cattle ranches. And it stuck. They’ve never looked back.
Oh, and the Bloody Mary’s? He said it’s a bit more civilized if you’re drinking during the day Christmas Day , plus you get all those vitamins and nutrients from the tomato juice and veggies in it.
Are you one of those people who just have to eat turkey Christmas Day? Wouldn’t you prefer lobster or steak to some dry old bird?
