Still Too Full To Think

When it comes to planning holiday meals, I have a problem. I find it really hard to think about what the next feast might be while I’m still full from the last one.

There are some in the house who like to plan meals ahead. Like a week in advance. And usually right after we have eaten. I can’t do that. Once I have stuffed myself, my brain refuses to think about food. Maybe in an hour or three, possibly five, but not right away. But there are already plans being made for New Years.

I’m still working on Christmas. At least in my head. And the fact we haven’t totally done in the turkey yet. I feel we should at least have the bones in the soup pot before we start planning what they next feast may be. Although when someone asks what I want to eat for New Years, be that eve or day, I am likely at this point to reply that a salad might be nice. Something nice a light.

My mind is likely to change over the next couple days, but after a couple full turkey dinners I’m still about ready to curl up for a long winter’s nap. But I have tossed out the occasional suggestion for the next round of holiday food. But most of it is lighter.

We don’t really have any traditions for New Years food. So we’ll just throw a few things together. Probably too many things, but it is the season.

We really need another couple weeks between holidays. Just to give the waistline a chance to recover.
