Between the Suez Canal blockage from last week and the effects of Covid on worldwide factories, experts are suggesting there will be shortages of numerous things in the months ahead.
Here’s what I’ve gleaned. Yes, there is a ketchup shortage, but only those packets for restaurants and take outs.
Some experts are suggesting products from Southeast Asia like Coconut milk could be in short supply. Here’s a hint. Get some Coconut oil or some packets of dried coconut milk if you indulge in Thai or Indian cuisine.
The shortage of wood products like lumber and plywood will continue for the foreseeable future. Maybe put off those home renovations for awhile.
It’s also affecting furniture supply. All that means is that your choices will be limited or if you’re ordering a certain piece you might be in for a long wait.
Perhaps the biggest shortage right now is the chip shortage. No, not the potato chip kind but the computer kind. It’s limiting the supply of computers, video cards, game consoles, cars and trucks and just about anything that has a display.
I’ve been looking to upgrade the video card for my computer but there are none for sale anywhere. I have friends who have bought brand new desktop computers just for the video card. I think I’ll just wait until the fall when manufacturers will hopefully have restocked store shelves.
