Take It While We Can

We haven’t had much winter weather to speak of. And I’m fine with that.

While I like to be outdoors and I really don’t mind shoveling snow, especially if I have the time to play with it. I find it rather satisfying in many ways. But at the same time, I can live without it.

So I like the weather we have been getting for the most part. While it would be nice if the dog would learn to wipe her feet when she comes in out of the mud, that would be a plus, but I don’t mind the not having snow around.

My mother, keeps looking at the weather and saying things like “we’re going to pay for this.” I know she’s not alone, but I also really don’t want to believe that we have a quota of snow we must get every year and it will happen. If not right now, it will come all at once at some later date.

That might be possible. In particular when you look at many other areas around us that seem to be getting hit pretty hard. And yes, there are many who will say “I remember the winter of 2015. It started like this then we got two storms per week for eight weeks.” Again, possible, but I keep thinking the longer we go without a lot of snow, the shorter the season seems.

We can’t really do much about it, but I’m quite happy with the not quite winter weather. I’ll take it as long as we can.

I know where my shovel is and I’m quite happy to keep it right where it is.
