The Municipality of the District of Lunenburg has awarded the tender for the design of their new building.
IBI Group Architects (Canada) Inc. won the bid at a cost of just over $415,000.
The decision was based on a points system and not just cost, however it was noted IBI’s submission is five per cent under budget.
The points system included price, methodology, experience, and qualifications.
Mayor Carolyn Bolivar-Getson says the next step will include more public input.
“The initial concept plan will be submitted to council in November at which point the municipality will engage the public in a second round in public engagement to review the concept plan,” says Bolivar-Getson.
By April, Bolivar-Getson says they should know how much the building will cost.
The municipality has estimated they’ll spend around $6.7 million to replace their current building.
That cost factors in estimated proceeds from the sale of the old building.
MODL believes they can get $500,000 for the property.
The new municipal building we be built on land MODL owns in Pine Grove.
