When and WHY did the trend shift from wrapping gifts to just sticking them in a pretty bag with tissue paper? I remember when there were 2 ways open a gift… you either tore the paper, or did what my grandmother used to do, carefully detach the tape so that the paper could be saved and reused. But things were wrapped and under the tree. So why has there been a change to gift bags. My first assumption would be reusable, but the bags rarely hold up and seem a lot more bulky to throw out. So is it a time thing? A bag is a lot quicker, dunno.
