Any of us who own a dog have probably wondered about it. What do they do when we’re not there?
Do they just lay around and sleep? Do they run around in circles, barking at everything that moves?
I’m sure someone has put up cameras to record such things and they probably know. I only suspect my dog has been up to very little. If she is busy doing things, she at least cleans up before I get home. So if nothing else, she’s good at hiding the evidence.
But now you can get things for your pet to listen to when you’re not home.
While I prefer to just leave the radio on, there are options. Streaming services are now offering special pet playlists.
You have to answer some questions about your pet and their preferences and the service will set up a playlist for your pet. You can even access podcasts for pets, which feature stories and encouraging words to reduce the anxiety of being on their own. I’m sure it won’t be long before your smart speaker will recognize an individual bark or meow and play what they want to hear when asked.
Of course this could cause problems if you have both a dog and cat and they start fighting over which playlist they want to hear.
Pets are a big deal for many of us, so it was only a matter of time before this niche started to be filled.
As I say, I prefer to use the radio. That way my dog is listening to me for part of the day. I don’t know if it makes her feel better, but I do. And maybe that’s the important part of all this.
