Who made up the unwritten rule that men should not go through their partner’s purse? Or am I just following a rule that doesn’t exist?
I will not go through Karen’s purse. If she asks me to get something from her purse, I’ve always brought the purse to her so she can open it and look for whatever it is she wants. Even when she’s called and said she left her purse at home and would I open it and see if whatever is in it, I won’t.
I’ve thought back to when I was a kid and have no recollection of my mother forbidding my brother and I from checking out her purse. I have never dated a woman who had strict rules about going in her purse. I can’t think of a single movie or novel that talks about the unwritten “purse law”.
To be honest, I have zero curiousity about what’s in a woman’s purse. But I am very curious as to whether this is a rule that most couples follow. Do the rest of you follow this rule, and why?
